Matthew 1:23 confirms that the prophecy in Isaiah 7:10-14 was fulfilled in Jesus because Jesus is “Immanuel” which is translated as “God with us”. Thus, Isaiah 9:6 is a prophecy predicting that the name of the child born and son given would be called the same name as the “Mighty God” and “Eternal Father” (John 17:11, Philippians 2:9, Heb. 1:4). This is why the prophet Jeremiah wrote that the Son “shall be called (future tense), Yahweh our righteousness” (Jer. 23:5-6 – An alleged God the Son should have always been called Yahweh). And this is why Psalm 118:14 says, “Yahweh is my strength and my song, He also has BECOME MY SALVATION”.
Yahweh God the Father Became Our Salvation As The Human Christ
When we read the entire chapter of Psalm 118 in context, we find that Yahweh became our salvation as Jesus.
“This is the gate of Yahweh (Jesus is the door); the righteous will enter through it. I shall give thanks to You, for YOU HAVE BECOME MY SALVATION. The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. This is Yahweh's doing. It is marvelous in our eyes (Psalm 118:20-23).”
Jesus cited Psalm 118:23 (in Matthew 21:42, Mark 12:10-11, and Luke 20:17) referencing himself which proves that Jesus is Yahweh who has become our salvation by His own Holy Spirit who descended upon the virgin to become the Christ child (Luke 1:35). Hence, Jesus proved that He is Yahweh God incarnate as the Messiah when he said, “Have you not even read this scripture: The stone which the builders rejected, this became the chief corner stone; this came about from the LORD, and it is marvellous in our eyes? And they were seeking to seize him, and yet they feared the people …” Mark 12:10-12 NASB
The Pharisees not only perceived that Jesus had spoken the previous parable against them, but they were obviously familiar with the context of Psalm 118 which says that Yahweh would become our salvation. For this reason, when Jesus cited Psalm 118 about himself, the Pharisees became enraged at Jesus and sought to kill him because they assumed that he had also spoken blasphemy by claiming to be Yahweh Himself. The Pharisees could not accept the fact that Jesus is Yahweh who became our salvation as “God with us” as a true man.
All Humans will bow and Swear to the Father by Bowing and Swearing to Jesus
Philippians 2:10-11 informs us that all humanity will one day bow to Jesus and confess him as LORD. But Isaiah 45:23 shows that the Father is the speaker (cited in Philippians 2:10-11) who said that all people will bow and swear to Him (the context prove the Father) as LORD (YAHWEH).
Philippians 2:9-11, “God highly exalted him, and bestowed on Him the name which is ABOVE EVERY NAME [Yahweh is the only Name above every Name], so that at the name of Jesus [Yahweh Saves] EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that EVERY TONGUE WILL CONFESS that Jesus Christ is Lord [“Lord” is translated as Kurios in the Greek Septuagint which is often translated from “Yahweh” in Hebrew], to the glory of God the Father.”
Philippians 2:10-11 contains a quote from Isaiah 45:22-23. Notice that the context of Isaiah 45:21-23 shows that Yahweh God is the speaker who said,
“Declare and set forth your case; indeed, let them consult together. Who has announced this from of old? Who has long since declared it? Is it not I, the LORD? And there is no other God besides Me, A righteous God and a Savior; there is none except Me. Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth; For I am God, and there is no other. I have sworn by Myself, in righteousness and will not turn back, that to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance.” (Isaiah 45:21-23 NASB)
The context of Isaiah 45 shows that the Father is the speaker in verse twenty three who said, “The word (the son is the word that was made flesh – John 1:1, 14) has gone forth FROM MY MOUTH (the Father’s mouth). Thus, the “I” (verse 21) Person who said, “there is no god besides Me, a righteous God and A SAVIOR (Jesus is the only Saviour of all humanity)” in verse twenty one, has to be the divine Person called the Father. Since Jesus is the only “Saviour of the world (1 John 4:14)”, Jesus must be the Father incarnate as the only true God and Saviour who is the Father’s word that “has gone forth” from the Father’s anthropomorphic “mouth”.
Anyone who compares the context of Isaiah 45:21-23 with Philippians 2:9-11 should clearly see that to bow the knee to Jesus and to confess Jesus as Lord (the context proves at the end of this age) is to bow the knee to the Father and confess that the Father is Lord. Hence, all bowing and confession to Jesus as Lord (at the end of this age) is all “to the glory of God the Father” alone rather than to the glory of two other alleged coequal members of a Trinity. This is not what we would expect if there were two other alleged coequally distinct divine members of a Three Person Trinity.
Isaiah 45:14-15 says that men “will bow” to the Messiah saying, “surely God is in you, there is none else, there is no other God. Truly you are a God who hides Himself, O God of Israel the Savior”. Our only true God is our Heavenly Father (John 17:3) who hid His true identity in Christ as our only true “Saviour”, “Immanuel … God with us” as a man (Matthew 1:23; 1 Tim. 2:5; Heb. 2:17). Therefore the only true God that we will ever see is Jesus the Son of God because Jesus is the “image” or “reproduced” “copy” (Col. 1:15 – Jesus is “the image of the invisible God”; Heb. 1:3 – Jesus is “the brightness of His glory and the express image [charakter means a “copy” or “reproduction” from an original source] of His Person”) of the Father’s Invisible Divine Person with humanity as a visible human person who has been given the Father’s Name as his own (John 17:11 – “keep them through Your Name, the Name which you have given me”. Zechariah 14:9 - “And Yahweh shall be King over all the earth; in that day there shall be One Yahweh and His Name One”).
Why would bowing the knee to Jesus and confessing him as LORD be “to the glory of God the Father” alone rather than to the glory of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? If the Son is a coequally distinct true God Person, then the Son should also have His own divine dignity, believe-ability, and glory rather than just the Father. Since Jesus as a son always claimed that the Father’s deity alone was in him (John 14:10 – “… the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.”), and since Jesus as the son never claimed any distinct divinity of his own (John 12:44-45 - “Whoever believes in Me does not believe in Me, but in the One who sent Me. And whoever sees Me sees the One who sent Me.”) as an alleged distinct and coequal Trinitarian Divine Person, Jesus must be that only true God the Father’s divinity in the flesh as a true man living among men. Therefore we cannot believe in Jesus as an alleged coequally distinct divine person without violating inspired scripture because to believe in Jesus is not to believe on an alleged distinct divine Son, but to believe in Jesus is to believe in the One who sent the Son, namely, Yahweh God the Father.
The words of Isaiah 45:23 in context prove that Yahweh God the Father is the speaker who said, “The word (Jesus is the word/logos in John 1:1, 14) has gone forth from My Mouth (the Father's mouth – Psalm 33:6 – “By the WORD OF YAHWEH were the heavens made, and all the host of them BY THE WORD OF HIS MOUTH”) in righteousness and will not turn back, That TO ME EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, EVERY TONGUE WILL SWEAR ALLEGIANCE”. The context of Isaiah 45:23 proves that the Father is the speaker who said that His word (the Father’s word is Jesus – John 1:1, 14; Rev. 19:13) “has gone forth” from His “mouth” (i.e. the Father’s mouth). Since the Son of God is clearly the word that has gone out of the Father’s mouth, it is nonsensical to believe that a timelessly coequal true God Person could have gone forth from the Father’s anthropomorphic mouth while being timeless and coequal. Therefore the human Son of God existed as the logos of God the Father (as the Father’s expressed thought which is the meaning of “logos” in John 1:1, 14) that was later made flesh to become the human person called the Christ child.
Since Philippians 2:10-11 cites Isaiah 45:23 as a prophecy to show that everyone will bow and confess that the Messiah is “LORD” only after Christ’s millennial reign begins, we know that to bow and confess Jesus is LORD is to bow and swear “TO ME” [TO THE FATHER] (Phil. 2:10-11 – “God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name [YAHWEH God the Father’s Name], so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW [future tense], of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth [all humans on earth and under the earth in Hades will bow to Jesus and confess that JESUS IS LORD,] and that EVERY TONGUE WILL CONFESS [future tense] that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”). John 14:24 proves that Jesus is the Father's word (logos) who “has gone forth from” the Father's “mouth”, so when every knee bows and every tongue confesses that Jesus Christ is LORD after the millennial reign begins after Jesus’ second coming, we know that all will be bowing and confessing that Jesus Christ is “LORD” to acknowledge the deity in Jesus (“God with us” as a man – Matthew 1:23) as the deity of the Father in the Son who receives all of “the glory” as “the only true God” (John 17:11). For how could Jesus as a Son exist as a coequally distinct divine person without the scriptures saying, “to the glory of the Son and the Father”? The Father receives all the glory because the Son is “the brightness of His (the Father's) glory and the express image of His (the Father's) Person” as a fully complete human person (Heb. 1:3).
The Son of God Was Given the Father’s Name
Furthermore, how could the Son as the Son have always existed as an alleged Yahweh God the Son Person while the Name of Yahweh was “bestowed on Him” or “given to him” at a specific point in time? Can God as a true God Person be “given” or “bestowed” the Name Yahweh while always eternally existing as a timeless and coequal true God Person, distinct from the Father? Therefore the Trinitarian idea of a timeless God the Son cannot harmonize with Philippians 2:9 and other scriptures which state that the Son was given the Father’s Name in time (Jesus is the Father’s Name which means “Yahweh Saves” that was given to the Son: John 5:43 – “I have come in my Father’s Name”; John 17:11 - “Holy Father, keep them through Your Name, the Name which You have given me” - NASB; Jer. 23:5-6 – “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD [Yahweh], when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king … In His days Judah will be saved, and this is His name by which He will be called [future tense], ‘The LORD [Yahweh] our righteousness’”; Philippians 2:9 – “God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name”).
Hebrews 2:14-17 proves that the “He” who “partook of flesh and blood” is Yahweh who has become our salvation by being “made” (Heb. 2:17 - “made” in Greek = “to make” or “construct”) as a fully complete human son in order to save us. Hence, the Father’s own Name (Yahweh) was given to the Son when the angel gave the Son’s name to Joseph (Matthew 1:20-21 – “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the One conceived in her is from out of the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you shall give Him the name Jesus [Jesus means “Yahweh Saves”], because He will save His people from their sins”). Therefore the Holy Spirit of the only true God miraculously reproduced His Divine Substance of Being (Heb. 1:3 – charakter means a “reproduction” or “copy” of the Father’s “hypostasis” which means “substance of being”) because God became a man within the virgin in order to “save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:20-23, Luke 1:35, 1 Tim. 3:16).
