Knowing Jesus as both Lord and Christ is the true foundational cornerstone upon which the true Church of the Living God has been built. All true worshippers of God the Father must receive a spiritual revelation of the true deity of God the Father manifested in Christ Jesus or they will be excluded from the Kingdom of Heaven. Only the church that is built upon this Rock of Revelation will enjoy the benefits of everlasting life.

“When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, some say that you are John the Baptist, some Elias, and others, Jeremiahs, or one of the prophets. He said unto them, But whom do you say that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, blessed are you, Simon Barjona; for flesh and blood has not REVEALED IT unto you, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto you, that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven; and whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.“ Matthew 16:13-20.

The question Jesus asked was not “who was Peter,” but rather, “who was Christ?” The true church of the living God is not built upon the apostle Peter as the chief rock or corner stone but upon Jesus Christ the Rock of our salvation . The scriptures prove that Christ alone is the “chief corner stone,” and the Rock of our salvation (See Ephesians 2:20/1 Corinthians 10:1-4). Sadly, Jesus Christ still remains the Rock of offense that many people (even professing Christians) stumble at today because they do not know His true identity.

“Therefore it is also contained in the Scriptures, Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious, and he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame. Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, the stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone, and a stone of stumbling and a Rock of offense. They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed.” 1 Peter 2:6-8.

Since the scriptures prove that Jesus is the chief cornerstone and Rock of offense, all who reject the true identity of Jesus Christ are actually stumbling over the same stumbling stone that many of the Jews stumbled over when they rejected the Lordship of Christ in the first century A.D. The great majority of professing Christians do not know that when they reject Christ’s true identity and Christian baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ they are actually rejecting the Lord Jesus Christ’s seal of ownership over their souls. This is why Jesus will say to most professing Christians, “Depart from Me, I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness (Matthew 7:23)!” “They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed(1Peter 2:8).”

When Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do you say that I am,” He was speaking about His true identity. Although He ministered to multitudes of people on a regular basis the people still did not know who He really was. Most people today, even professing Christians, still do not know Christ’s true identity. But the true Bride of Jesus Christ will know who her husband really is because Jesus declared that His true followers would know Him: “I am the good shepherd; and I KNOW My sheep, and am KNOWN by My own (John 10:14).” Therefore, Jesus knows those who are legally His and He is known by His own (John 14:9,10,17,18/Revelation 21:9)!

Matthew chapter sixteen proves that the revelation that Peter received from heaven was not who Peter was but who was Christ. Verse twenty proves that this interpretation is the only correct one: “Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that He was Jesus the Christ (Matthew 16:20).”

If Peter was the rock upon which the church was to be built then Jesus should have clearly said so. And if the apostles and prophets had believed that Peter was the rock of revelation upon which the church was to be built, surely they would have confirmed this alleged truth in other passages of scripture. Yet when we search the Hebrew and Greek scriptures thoroughly we do not find a shred of evidence to prove that the apostle Peter is the chief foundational rock of the church but only Christ. The scriptures clearly prove that Jesus Christ is the massive rock, the only chief cornerstone that the true church is built upon. “. . . we are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone.” Ephesians 2:20 “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:10,11

In Ephesians 2:20 the Bible says that the true church is built upon the smaller foundational stones of all the apostles and prophets but Jesus Christ Himself is the only “chief corner stone.” The chief corner stone in ancient buildings was the largest of all stones which held all of the other stones in place. Therefore Jesus Christ has to be the only chief foundational rock upon which the true church is built upon and not a single apostle.

“. . . for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that ROCK was Christ.” 1 Corinthians 10:4 “ . . . and upon this ROCK I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:13-20

At the beginning of Jesus’ public ministry the apostles all followed Him because they believed that He was the anticipated Messiah. Therefore Peter had to receive a much deeper revelation than the knowledge that Jesus of Nazareth was the Messiah. The word “Messiah” is the Hebrew word for the Greek word “Christ,” meaning the “Anointed One.” John chapter one proves that the apostles already knew that Jesus was the Messiah:

“One of the two heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, we have found the Messiah (which is translated, the Christ) . . . Philip found Nathaniel and said to him, we have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets wrote - Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” John 1:40-45

Since all of the apostles already knew that Jesus was the Messiah of whom Moses and the prophets wrote, there had to be a much deeper and greater revelation about Jesus’ true identity that Peter knew than just his knowledge of Jesus being the true Messiah. It was this revelation which enabled Peter to correctly understand Christ’s command (as recorded in Matthew 28:19) to baptize in the single Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God the Father’s revelation to Peter enabled Peter to correctly interpret Christ’s command to baptized in the Name of all three titles of the One True God. Acts 2:38 proves that the apostle Peter used the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven to correctly interpreted Christ’s command to baptize in the Name, a single Name, of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. That single Name is Jesus, meaning, “Yahweh Saves.” Therefore Jesus has to be the One True God [Yahweh “The Self Existent One”] who saves us.

Jesus’ command to baptize in a single Name was given directly to the first century apostles: “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

The command of Christ was properly obeyed in Acts 2:38 by the words of the apostle with the keys to the KIngdom of Heaven. Peter used these keys to preach the true message of New Testament salvation: “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both LORD [Yahweh God] and CHRIST [Anointed One]. Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then PETER said to them, Repent and be baptized, everyone of you, in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit . . . And with many other words did he testify and exhort them, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation. Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.” Acts 2:37-41

Notice that it was the apostle Peter with the revelatory keys to the Kingdom of Heaven who first unlocked the door of New Testament Salvation. Peter commanded the multitude in Jerusalem to “Repent and be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ.” Not into the titles: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but into the Name of Jesus Christ alone. Therefore Peter used his revelatory knowledge about the true identity of Jesus Christ to rightly interpret the one Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus is both LORD (God the Father) and CHRIST (the anointed Son). He is the Lord God of heaven from the Holy Spirit Who came into Mary and He is the Son through His human nature He received from His mother (Luke 1:34,35). Therefore Jesus is both LORD and CHRIST. Both GOD and MAN in one person. This is the mystery of the incarnation, “God was manifested in the flesh.” 1 Tim 3:16

Upon this Rock of Revelation (knowing the full revelation of Yahweh’s deity in Christ) has the Lord built His church and the gates of Hades cannot prevail against it. When we compare all of the scriptures we find that Jesus the Christ is more than just a man, He is also “Immanuel, . . . God with us.” Matthew 1:23

“I will publish the name of Yahweh, ascribe ye greatness unto our God. He is the ROCK.” Deuteronomy 32:3,4 “There is none holy as Yahweh: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any ROCK like our God.” 1 Samuel 2:2 “For who is God, save Yahweh? And who is a ROCK save our God?” 2 Samuel 22:32 “Yahweh is my ROCK, and my fortress, and my deliverer.” Psalm 18:2 “Truly my soul waits upon God: from Him comes my salvation. He ONLY is my ROCK and my salvation.” Psalm 62:1,2 “O come, let us sing unto Yahweh, and let us make a joyful noise to the ROCK of our salvation.” Psalm 95:1

“. . . all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea. And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea . . . for they drank of that spiritual ROCK that followed them: and that ROCK was Christ.” 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 “Behold I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and ROCK of offense and whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.” Romans 9:33 “I have laid the foundation, and another builds thereon. But let every man take heed how he builds thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:10,11

“The women was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. And on her forehead a name was written: Mystery, Babylon the great, the MOTHER OF HARLOTS and of the abominations of the earth. I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.” Revelation 17:4-6 Historians believe that the Roman Church murdered up to 70 million people who would not follow her trinitarian teaching. Protestant Denominations also murdered millions for not accepting trinitarianism. The name “Anabaptist” [meaning “Re-baptized”] was used by both Catholics and Protestants to describe those alleged false Christians who were “rebaptized” outside of the alleged three names of the trinity. Most Anabaptist groups were known for their practice of rebaptizing former Catholics and Protestants by immersion into the Name of Jesus Christ alone! This infuriated both Catholics and Protestants alike.

The name “Peter” in the original Greek language is “Petros” which literally means “a stone.” But the mighty Rock that Jesus spoke of as the foundational Rock that the true church is built upon is the Greek word “Petra” which literally means, “a Mass of Rock.” When we compare scripture with scripture we can cleary prove that knowing the true identity of Jesus the Messiah is the Rock upon which the true church of the living God is built upon. Therefore the true Bride of Christ must know Christ’s true iden
