How Can God Send His Own Holy Spirit, John 15:26

Only the omnipresent God who fills heaven and earth can send His own Spirit into the hearts of humanity while never having to leave heaven. No created angel or human being can possess the divine attribute of God Himself by being in many places all at once. For God said in Isaiah 46:9, “I am God and there is none else, I AM GOD AND THERE IS NONE LIKE ME.” Since Jesus possesses divine attributes and powers of the Father Himself, we have sufficient evidence to believe that Jesus Christ is “Imannuel” as “God with us” as a true man.

Jesus as God Sends the Holy Spirit of God

Jesus said in John 15:26, “When the Advocate (Paracletos “advocate”, “intercessor”) comes, whom I WILL SEND TO YOU from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who PROCEEDS FROM THE FATHER, He will testify of me.”

Jesus as God can send the Spirit of God into our hearts (Gal. 4:6) because he possesses the divine attributes of God Himself; for no mere man can send the Spirit of God unless He is God incarnate as a man.

Romans 8:9 says, “However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.”

Paul wrote that the indwelling Spirit of God is the Spirit of Christ. This explains how Jesus as God can baptize with the Holy Spirit of God.

Mark 1:8 – “I deed baptize you with water, but the one who comes after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worth to untie, HE (Jesus) SHALL BAPTIZE YOU WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT.”

The only way that Jesus can send the Holy Spirit is if he does so as God. Since God sends His Spirit, we know that the man Christ Jesus has to be God Himself revealed as a true man.

Jesus said in Luke 24:49, “I send THE PROMISE OF MY FATHER UPON YOU, tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you be endued with power from on high.”

Joel 2:28 proves that Jesus sends the promise of God the Father because the Father said, “I will POUR OUT MY SPIRIT UPON ALL FLESH.”

SOME SCRIPTURAL FACTS

FACT 1 THE FATHER PROMISED TO POUR OUT HIS OWN HOLY SPIRIT.

Luke 24:49 proves that Jesus would send the promise of God the Father upon all flesh. For when Jesus said, “I SEND THE PROMISE OF MY FATHER UPON YOU,” he proved that it was the Father who promised to pour out His Spirit in Joel 2:28.

FACT 2 JESUS IS THE ONE WHO ACTUALLY POURS OUT THE FATHER’S HOLY SPIRIT.

Since God the Father said in Joel 2:28, “I will pour out MY SPIRIT UPON ALL FLESH,” it would not make any sense for Jesus to pour out or baptize with the Holy Spirit if he was not doing the works of God the Father himself. Luke 24:49 and Joel 2:28 proves that God the Father promised to pour out His Spirit upon all flesh, but Jesus happens to be the one who does the baptizing with the Holy Spirit according to Mark 1:8 and Luke 24:49. Thus proving that Jesus himself did the works of God the Father (John 10:37).

FACT 3 Inspired scripture proves that THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE SPIRIT OF THE FATHER.

Jesus said in John 12:49 (Berean Study Bible),

“I have not spoken on My own, but the Father who sent Me has commanded Me what to say …”

But Acts 1:2 says that Jesus had “BY THE HOLY SPIRIT given commandments to the apostles whom he had chosen.”

Inspired scripture proves that the Holy Spirit is the One Spirit of the Father who gave the man Christ Jesus the words and commandments to speak to his disciples. Therefore the Holy Spirit has to be the Spirit of the Father who spoke through Christ and is now the indwelling Spirit within the hearts of true Christians.

FACT 4 Inspired scripture proves that THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THE SPIRIT OF THE FATHER WHO BECAME THE HUMAN SON.

Matthew 1:20, “The child which is conceived in her IS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.” Hence, the deity of Jesus is the deity of the Holy Spirit of the Father Himself incarnate as a true man through the virgin.

John 8:58, 1 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 1:3, and Hebrews 2:14 prove that someone existed in heaven before also partaking of flesh and blood as the Christ child. Luke 1:35 and Matthew 1:20 inform us that the Holy Spirit of God Himself came down from heaven to become a man with a true human will which after the incarnation, was distinct from the divine will of the Father in heaven (John 6:38, “I came down from heaven not to do my own will”). When we compare Luke 1:35 and Matthew 1:20 which says that the “Holy Spirit” came down from heaven to produce the Christ child (the Greek prep. “ek” in Matthew 1:20 literally means, “from out of the Holy Spirit” rather than “of the Holy Spirit”) with Hebrews 1:3, we find that the Christ child was made “out of” the “substance of Being” of the Father Himself (“who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of his person (hypostasis = “substance of being or person”, i.e. the Father’s Person who became a man person)

FACT 5) JESUS SENDS THE HOLY SPIRIT AS THE FATHER JUST AS HE RAISED HIS OWN BODY AS THE FATHER.

The Father (God as God outside of the incarnation) and the Son (God as a man inside the incarnation) can send the divine Spirit down to earth. For the true identity of Jesus Christ is also that God and Father with us as a true man.Since the true identity of Jesus is the omnipresent Holy Spirit of God the Father incarnate as a true man, he can send His own Holy Spirit as God just as he resurrected his own body as God.

Acts 2:24 states that “God (who is the Father) raised up” Jesus from the dead, but Jesus said in John 2:19, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. But he spoke of the temple of his body.” Thus proving that Jesus did the works of His Father as the Father incarnate as a true man.

Jesus as God the Father as a true man said in John 10:37 that he did “THE WORKS OF” his Father.

"If I do not do THE WORKS OF MY FATHER, do not believe Me; but IF I DO THEM, though you do not believe Me, BELIEVE THE WORKS, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father.” John 10:37

“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him. Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us. Jesus said to him, Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, Show us the Father?” John 14:7-9

Since the true deity of Jesus is fully God the Father with us as a man, as God the Father he has the power to send His Spirit down to the earth (in John 15:26) just as he as God the Father had the power to resurrect his own body in John 2:19. Who else but God alone can do the works of God the Father to be able to “send” and “pour out the Spirit” upon all flesh? And who else but God the Father has the power to resurrect his own human image of Himself (Col. 1:15; Heb. 1:3) from the dead? For what man in all human history has ever been able to raise his own body from the dead? For God said, “I am God and there is none else, I am God and THERE IS NONE LIKE ME (Isaiah 46:9).” Since Jesus is like God the Father in doing the works of the Father, he must be that God and Father who came to save us from our sins as a real man in the incarnation through the virgin.
